A Dreadful Delicacy (Short fanfiction story based on Disney's Beauty and the Beast)

Cogsworth walked into the dining room to deliver a letter to his master. It came from a couple who wished his help in buying a property. Just as he entered the dining room however, the Clock was greeted with an appalling sight; his master was dining on the most repulsing and horrendous feast ever seen. There were caterpillars in one plate, earthworms in another, a dead pheasant surrounded by the eggs she had left behind which were now cooked and a glass filled with a red liquid which was evidently blood. There was also a large pot of cassava flour, finely cooked. Lumiere, the candelabra who was to be lighting the room could not bear the sight of what surrounded him and left the room all at once, Cogsworth understanding why. "I see you have been very successful in your hunt master" as Prince Adam now a cursed Beast despite concealing himself in his castle was known to enter the nearby forests to search for food.

"Why do you disturb me?" growled the Beast as he began to lay his plate with what he had received. Cogsworth replied "There is a French couple who request your help in buying a property. It is located in England. They wish to get out of the country and live there". The Beast was furious "Can no-one understand that I cannot and am unable to help them?! This is the seventh letter I received this week! Not a soul seems to understand that I do not wish to be written to or contacted! Give me that letter!". at the command of his master, Cogsworth tossed the letter to the Beast who threw it into the fireplace that took Lumiere's place. The Beast then returned to his meal, knowing that once he had eaten, he would feel better

"Master, your meal is quite atrocious, maybe not to you but to the rest of the castle, myself included yes. I agree with the eggs and the bird as your meal but not so much the other palatable elements". Dipping his fingers into the cassava that he laid on his plate and flipping it into a dollop, the Beast slurped it down his throat saying "Cassava may taste terrible but the pygmy natives of Africa seem to like it and so do I". Next he laid his plate with a piece of the pheasant and all the eggs that were in the plate as he remarked "It is important that when a bird is killed, anything that the bird leaves behind should see the same destiny". Eyeing his glass and turning it around a few times, the Beast's eyes immediately turned to Cogsworth and rhetorically questioned "Why have wine for a pheasant feast when you can easily use the blood of the bird as a liquid? As it is known, I never drink wine" and much to Cogsworth's horror, the Beast nearly drowned the glass of blood.

Next the Beast laid his plate with worms and caterpillars, some of which were still moving. "Some cultures from all around the world have used grubs as a source of food which may not necessarily be eaten by non-human animals. People in Africa, Asia and even the Americas do so. As a matter of fact, I consider them a delicacy. Of course you will have to know which kind is the best won't you?". "Is t...that so m.....m..aster?" shuddered Cogsworth. "Sure would you like to eat it? Here have some" said the Beast, dangling a still wriggling caterpillar and writhing worm from his claws in front of his clock servant. "No thank you master as you know we as your servants cannot eat or drink anything in the state we are in thanks to the the curse placed on us all" and he walked out of the room. "Very well if you don't mind, I will" said the Beast popping the two creatures in his mouth, chewing seven times and after swallowing, smacked his lips, saying "Delicious!"
